I just want to thank some very special people today. A young girl named Piper Powell who is an eight year old girl who used her own money and bought some toys for my charity. Now this little girl raised her OWN money. I am so happy that other kids want to get involved and help. Her mom Holly Powell also donated, she donated some board games. Thank you so much Powell family for your donations. I would love to meet you and say thank you in person. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org so I can give you a sincere thank you and like I said I would love to meet you. I would also love to thank 2 more special young girls in my neighborhood. Their names are Ainsley and Fiona. They donate every single year. They told me it became part of their holiday traditions. I was amazed and felt so happy that people love donating. These young girls have such a big heart and its amazing to see how my actions ripple and make other children want to help. Here is some of the presents for the toy drive. Some of the beauty care items are from my cousins Girl Scout Troop number 31767 from Casey Middle School. The rest is from the money that was donated. Remember you can still donate any toys to any of our drop off locations, also you can donate checks to any First Niagara banks. Thanks for everything.
Thank you so much Room To Spare Storage for donating 7 turkeys! You can still donate unwrapped gifts at Room To Spare Storage.
I had so much fun meeting Jickster from 97 rock. He is doing an amazing thing by collecting food for the food bank. So far we raised 7 big boxes full of food and 7 turkeys. Happy Holidays everyone! Thanks for all the donating.
I had a great time being interviewed on Winging It Buffalo Style today! We talked about the charity and how things are going with it. I am so excited to have Madisongives up and running for a fifth year! Thanks to everyone who has helped out in the past years, I hope we have another great year!
Hi. My name is Madison Scott and I am in seventh grade. Five years ago I told my parents that I wanted to donate half of my holiday toys to needy kids. We decided to have a toy and gift drive and to donate everything that came in to the Buffalo News Neediest Fund. Last year we collected over a thousand toys/games/personal care items that we donated to the Fund. We also accepted cash donations, and right at the end of the collection period, we were able to make a monetary contribution to the Food Bank of Western New York. All my neighbors, friends, and family were so generous, and we’re hoping to have another successful drive this year.
This year I’m also partnering with my Aunt Denise’s company again, United Health Care, to collect canned goods and non-perishable food items until November 24, 2013. Those items will be donated to the Food Bank of WNY. Then we’ll concentrate on toys/games/personal care items for the Neediest Fund.
From Madison’s Parents:
We are, of course, really proud of Madison. She is now 12 years old and continues to recognize the need for giving, especially as this economy remains challenging for so many. A few years ago, Madison came to us out of the blue and asked if she could give half of her gifts to a charity, and we told her that would be the best gift anyone can give. For the fifth time, we’re helping her organize the donation drive again. Madison will be updating her blog at https://madisongives.wordpress.com and has an e-mail address at email@example.com. If you wish to donate something, please make sure to put your name on the food or gift (maybe a sticky note) and you’ll be acknowledged on the blog.
If you wish to make a donation, please drop off food items and/or unwrapped toys, games, personal care items, or other gifts at:
Room to Spare Storage
7545 Transit Road East Amherst, NY 14051.
If you wish to make a cash donations, please send a check made payable to Madison Gives c/o First Niagara Bank. You can drop it off or mail it to any First Niagara Branch in Western New York (tax ID #80-0301379).
Thank you so much for your help!
Our deadline for toys/games/personal care items collection is December 13, 2013.
